Welcome to Communities for Social Change

Communities for Social Change is a new organisation that has evolved out of the Black Community Development Project. See www.bcdp.org.uk. 

The Black Community Development Project was established in August 1991 by the local indigenous white community, mainly from Muirhouse, one of the areas of Greater Pilton in Edinburgh (an area with multiple deprivation).

The aim of BCDP is to challenge the marginalisation and oppression of minority ethnic people in Greater Pilton. Its establishment is based on recognition that racial harassment and discrimination deters minority ethnic residents from using local services and taking a pro-active role in articulating their needs around service provision.

The organisation also recognises the discrimination and social exclusion experienced by other communities and has been fighting for Social Justice for all.
